Nubra Valley Jeep Safari

The Last Shangri La or Nubra Valley: Lying north of Leh beyond Khardung-La pass, Nubra Valley was once center of thriving Silk route trade. You can get a chance to enjoy Bactrian Camel (double humped) Ride on white sand dunes close to Diskit. Drive past the Highest Motorable road Khardong La Pass. At 5600 mt. , Khardungla is the heighest motorable road in the world. Monasteries of Diskit , Hunder , Ansa , Sumur & Keyger reflects rich heritage of Mayahana Buddhism. Along the Nubra or Siachan River lie the villages of Sumur, Kyagar (called Tiger by the Indian Army), Tirith, Panamik and many others. Samstanling monastery is between Kyagar and Sumur villages, and Panamik is noted for its hot springs. Across the Nubra or Siachan River at Panamik, is the isolated Ensa Gompa. Places on the way of this tour are The Last Shangrila, Nubra Valley, Leh, Keygar, Deskit, Hunder, Panamic, Samstanling.

Day 1: Arrive Delhi
Arrive Delhi. Met on arrival at Delhi international airport and transfer to hotel for overnight stay.

Day 2: Delhi - Leh
Early morning transfer to domestic airport to board flight for Leh (3505 mt). Met upon arrival at the airport and transfer to hotel. Rest of the day at leisure for Acclimatisation. LEH is the capital of Ladakh and is situated on the bank of river Indus.In the evening visit Sanker Gompa, Shanti Stupa and Leh Bazar. Overnight stay at hotel.

Day 3: Leh
Morning proceed for Indus Valley monastery tour. Visit SHEY PALACE - The monastery has a huge copper gilt image of Sakyamuni and the large silver lamp burning in front of the statue, THIKSAY GOMPA which is actually a complex of buildings on a crag rising in tire upon tier above the village. The temple was dedicated by His Holiness Dalai Lama in 1980 and houses an immense image of Maitreya Buddha in an unusual manifestation known as Chon-kor, most famous HEMIS GOMPA - Founded in 1630's by Stag-tsang-ras-pa under the royal patronage of Sengge Namgayl. Hemis is the is one of the largest and richest gompa of Ladakh and STOK PALACE AND MUSEUM - The Royal residence of the King of Stok. In the evening return back to hotel for overnight stay.

Day 4: Leh - Khardungla - Keygar
Morning after an early breakfast we start yet another different region of Ladkah "NUBRA" laying north of Leh close to Karakuram mountain ranges. After around 40 km from Leh we cross over the "Khardong -La" (5600 mt) the highest motorable road in the world from where one can have good views of Karakuram and Ladakh mountian ranges. Enter Nubra valley, enroute stop for passport check at North-Pulu immediatly after crossing over the pass, then we pass through the beautiful villages of Khardong, on the way we meet river Shyok, the main river in Nubra. Later we cross over the bridge after Koksar village and drive towards Keygar village via Sumur. On arrival at Keygar checkin at the hotel for overnight stay.

Day 5: Keygar - Ansa - Panamic - Keygar
After an early breakfast we drive to Panamic village along Nubra river. Leaving the jeeps on the river side near the bridge start Trek 3-4 hours to Ansa Monastery one of the most important Monasteries of Nubra. The trek starts by climbing over a hill and then walking down along a valley. Later trek back and overnight stay at Keygar village.

Day 6: Kyagar - Samstanling - Deskit
Day for visiting Samstanling Monastery which is located very close to Keygar village. Later drive past Sumur and crossing the bridge and along river Shyok arrive at Diskit the main town of Nubra region. On arrival checkin at the guest house. Later in the afternoon visit Diskit Monastery located over a hill top, which offers panoramic views of whole Nubra valley. One of the main sights within the monastery is the white Mahakala in the "Gon Khang".

Day 7: Deskit - Hunder - Deskit
Day for visiting Hundar Monastery driving along white sandy deserts of Nubra and later proceed to the Camel Farm. Nubra has the only Bactrian Duble humped Camels in india which were left by the central asian traders mainly by Yarkhand traders (present Turkamanistan) when Nubra was a major stopover on the central asian trade route. If possible enjoy a short Camel Safari.

Day 8: Deskit - Leh
After breakfast drive back to Leh. Arrive by evening and checkin at the hotel for overnight stay.

Day 9: Leh
Morning proceed for sightseeing tour of Phiyang, Spituk and Stok Palace. Rest of the day at leisure. Overnight stay in hotel.

Day 10: Leh - Delhi
Board morning flight to Delhi. Meet upon arrival and transfer to hotel. Rest of the day at leisure. Overnight stay in hotel.

Day 11: Depart Delhi
Optional sightseeing of Delhi. Transfer to international airport in time to board the flight to onward destination.
