Mount Thalay Sagar Expedition (6904 M)
Thalay Sagar is located just north of Gangotri in Western Garhwal . At 6904 meters, it is one of the most difficult mountains in the Garhwal with no easy ascent route. The first ascent route, the NW Couloir and West Ridge, is a technical ice climb in the lower sections, followed by a mixed free and aid rock section, followed by fifth class climbing up the final summit ridge. It was first climbed by an Anglo-American expedition in 1979.
Day 1: Arrive Delhi
Met upon arrival and transfer to hotel for overnight stay.
Day 2: Delhi
Morning visit I.M.F. for briefing and clear all the formalities. Overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 3: Delhi - Rishikesh
Morning after breakfast drive down (225 kms) to Rishikesh. Upon arrival check-in the hotel for the overnight stay. Rest of the day free for leisure activities.
Day 4: Rishikesh - Uttarkashi
Morning after breakfast drive to Uttarkashi. Afternoon arrive Uttarkashi and check in at hotel.
Day 5: Uttarkashi - Gangotri
Morning after breakfast drive (95 kms) to reach Gangotri (3048 mt) by covering approx 95 km in 4-5 hrs. Upon arrival check-into the Guest House. Afternoon free to relax & get acclimatized. In the evening visit Gangotri Temple.
Day 6: Gangotri - Bhoj Kharak
Morning after breakfast start your first day's trekking (8 kms) to reach Bhoj Kharak (3567 mt). It is a steep climb all the way through a narrow path following the Kedar Ganga. Arrive and overnight stay in tents.
Day 7: Bhoj Kharak
Day for high altitude acclimatization.
Day 8: Bhoj Kharak - Kedar Kharak
After breakfast trek (7 kms) to Kedar Kharak (3990 mt). It’s gradual up & down trek takes 3.On arrival set-up camp for overnight stay.
Day 9: Kedar Kharak - Kedar Tal
Morning after breakfast start trekking (8kms / 3 hrs) to reach the base camp Kedar Tal. Kedar Tal (4350 mt) is situated in the beautiful surrounding of Mt Bhrigupanth and Thaley Sagar with a crystal clear lake. Establish base camp and overnight stay in tents.
Day 10 to Day 35
Establish higher camps and attempt peak.
Day 36: Kedar Tal - Kedar Kharak
Wind-up the base camp and trek back to Kedar Kharak.Overnight stay at camp.
Day 37: Kedar Kharak - Gangotri
Morning after breakfast start trekking to reach Gangotri. On arrival drive to Uttarkashi.Arrive Uttarkashi and check into at hotel for overnight stay.
Day 38 : Uttarkashi - Rishikesh
Morning after breakfast drive back to Rishikesh. Upon arrival check-into the hotel for the overnight stay.
Day 39: Rishikesh - Delhi
Morning after breakfast drive to Delhi and upon arrival check-into the hotel for overnight stay.
Day 40: Depart Delhi
Morning after breakfast visit to IMF for debriefing. Rest of the free for independent activity. Later transfer to International airport to board flight for onward destination.
