Adventure beckoned... and Swadesh Kumar responded... And continues to do so even today. As he progressed in the field of adventure and adventure tourism, he felt an urgent need for an organised body and forum to oversee Indian adventure-related affairs. He conceived the idea of creating and setting up a platform for all players in this industry, and along with a select few from the industry, founded the Adventure Tour Operators Association of India in 1994.

Swadesh Kumar was its President for seven years till 2001. The association plays a significant role in promoting adventure tourism in India, and has been recognized by the Ministry of Tourism as the prime body of the Indian adventure tourism industry.
